Teen Artist Workshops

Teens in 9th to 12th grade can join a rock band, perfect their performance skills, learn sci-fi script-writing skills, and pursue other pop culture passions.

  1. "My guitar is not a thing. It is an extension of myself. It is who I am."
    Joan Jett

Electric or acoustic, bluegrass or Britpop, teens learn how to strum, pluck, and perform in Teen Artist Workshops.

  2. "Stamina is the force that drives the drumming. It's not really a sprint."
Neil Peart, drummer for Rush and considered by many to be the world's greatest drummer.

Develop instrumental techniques, learn how to work collaboratively within a band, and practice powerful performing skills in Teen Artist Workshops.

  3. John Entwistle was trained on piano and French horn before switching to strings. "By the time I taught myself the bass guitar at the age of 14," says the legendary The Who bass player, "my hands were already pretty nimble."

Teen Artist Workshops promote mad technical skills, foster a collaborative work/play environment, and allow teens to rock out.

  4. "Being in a band is always a compromise. Provided that the balance is good, what you lose in compromise, you gain by collaboration."
Mike Rutherford, founding member of English rock band band Genesis.

Experience the power of playing together when you take part in a Teen Artist Workshop.

EMP is proud to partner with some of the Northwest's most esteemed institutions including Seattle’s School of Rock and Rain City Rock Camp for Girls.

We've joined forces to provide a number of educational and entertaining Teen Artist Workshops onsite at the museum. Youth can practice hands-on instrumental proficiencies, gain a historic and cultural perspective of music trends, hone their writing skills, and rock out.
