2011 HONOREE BUDDY GUY
Pioneer of Chicago West Side Blues, five-time Grammy Award winner, and winner of Billboard Magazine's Century Award, Buddy Guy was recently awarded EMP's 2011 Founders Award for his prodigious contributions to the field of music.
The 2011 Founders Award ceremony featured rousing performances by guest artists The Jelly Rollers and Robert Randolph, who paid tribute to the illustrious Buddy Guy, followed by an electric performance by the blues master himself.
Thank you to our generous patrons and community partners for supporting EMP's extensive education programs by attending the 2011 Founders Award dinner. This annual fundraising gala raised more than $250,000 for EMP's innovative youth-based education programs, which benefit more than 40,000 school children annually. A 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization, EMP serves a unique function in our community, allowing audiences to actively engage with the creative process through music, literature, film, media arts, and technology--all made approachable through the shared vernacular of popular culture.
