Greetings, fellow pop culture aficionados, and welcome to week 53 of our I.C.Y.M.I. (In Case You Missed It) blog series, where we recap a handful of trending tidbits from the past week(s) in popular culture, in case you missed them.

Last week in this space, we remembered Jessica Walter, the Arrested Development and Archer star who passed away last month. This week, we begin with some exciting news in The Witcher universe.

Production Wraps on Season 2 of The Witcher

Toss a coin to your Witcher
O' Valley of Plenty
O' Valley of Plenty, oh
Toss a coin to your Witcher
O' Valley of Plenty

Now that we've got that song stuck in your head, it's time to highlight some exciting news from the Netflix series of which it hails. The Witcher announced it has wrapped up production on its second season after more than a year's time and 158 days of shooting across 15 locations with 89 cast members and 1,200 crew members, all while managing COVID-19 safety precautions.

In the video embedded above, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich walks fans through a bit of behind-the-scenes footage providing a look at what Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Jaskier, and more will get into following season 1's conclusion at the Battle of Sodden Hill. Season 2 of The Witcher is slated for a 2021 release.

Godzilla vs. Kong Lands on HBO Max

If you're looking for an epically massive monster mash to watch from the comfort of your own home this weekend, look no further than Godzilla vs. Kong, which released this past week on HBO Max (and in theaters, too).

The latest installment of Warner Bros. and Legendary's "Monsterverse" series doesn't disappoint, featuring plenty of colossal battles between the two icons while, of course, the fate of civilization hangs in the balance. If you need some convincing, check out Nerdist's review of the sci-fi adventure, Polygon's Q&A with director Adam Wingard, or just watch the terrific trailer embedded above.
